On 11 March 1937 CE, King Abdulaziz – may God have mercy on him – adopted the form of the Saudi flag known today, which became an official symbol of the modern Saudi state.

For this reason, the Saudi flag is never flown at half-mast on any occasion, out of respect for the sanctity of the Shahada written upon it.

Saudi Flag Day

In 2023 CE, a royal order was issued designating 11 March of every year a special day named "Saudi Flag Day."

This day aims to strengthen feelings of national belonging and pride in the Saudi flag, and to recall the history of this banner, which is tied to the founding and unity of the Saudi state.

On this day, Saudis celebrate their flag, which represents a symbol of unity, pride, and sovereignty.
